Dr. Theja Kuruppu Arachchi joined the University of Ruhuna in 2000 as an Assistant Librarian in the Main Library. She has worked as the Assistant Librarian/Senior Assistant Librarian of the Periodicals Division of the Main Library form 2000 to 2016, Medical Faculty Library from 2002 to 2003, and of the Legal Deposit Division from 2019 to 2020. She has played a major role in introducing Information Literacy instruction to undergraduate students at the University of Ruhuna, initiating from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences& Technology in 2009/2010 academic year, and introducing to the Faculty of Science in 2021. She has taught and coordinated Information Literacy modules in these two faculties, while also contributing for the Information Literacy teaching at the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Technology. She was awarded the Interaction Design for International Development Award at the INTERACT2021, IFIP TC13 Conference on Human Computer Interaction on 1 September 2021 in Bari, Italy. She is currently the Faculty of Science Library Coordinator, and the Senior Assistant Librarian, Acquisitions Division, Main Library.
