Information Literacy

Information literacy defines as the ability to find, analyze, organize, use, and communicate information in all of its forms, particularly in situations requiring decision-making, problem-solving, or knowledge acquisition. Further, the University of Ruhuna Library has taken initiatives to disseminate and improve the awareness of information literacy among the undergraduates of the University by offering an Information Literacy and Scientific Communication Skills course unit for the undergraduates. The course has been added to the curriculum of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and its one of their core course unit. In addition to the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences and Technology offer supplementary modules relating to Information literacy. Further in faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Medicine are offered Information literary as a part by combining to a main module.
