Mr. E.M. Sumanasekara joined the University of Ruhuna in 2000 as a Library Assistant, Grade III attached to the Reader Services Division of Main Library, University of Ruhuna. He transferred to the Library, Faculty of Engineering in 2001 and worked there for One-year period. Then, he assumed duties in the Library, Faculty of Agriculture in 2002 and worked there for 07 years. In 2009, he transferred to the main library and stared to work in reader services. Mr. Sumanasekara has been working in different sections in the main library including acquisition division and periodicals division respectively. He promoted into Library Information Assistant, Grade I in 2016. Currently, he is working in the Legal Deposit Collection as a Senior Staff Assistant (Library). Prior to joining the University of Ruhuna, he rendered his service as Library Assistant, Grade III in Institute of Esthetics Studies, University of Kelaniya. 

• Successfully completed the Diploma in Library and Information Science conducted by the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka in 2004.

• Participated for a workshop on Development of Information Technology Skills for Library Information Assistance, organized by the Library, University of Ruhuna in 2017.
• Participated for a workshop on Communication Skills and Professional Ethics, conducted by the by University Librarians Association of Sri Lanka in 2016.
• Successfully completed a Certificate course of Instruction in First Aid conducted by the National St. John Association of Sri Lanka in 2011, coordinated by the Career Guidance Unit, University of Ruhuna.
• Successfully completed a Certificate course in Library Automation (COLA) conducted by the Sri Lanka Library Association in 2008.
• Participated for a workshop on “Why Customer Care”, organized by University Librarians Association of Sri Lanka in 2008.
• Participated for a workshop on Information and Communication Technology organized by the National Library and Documentation Service Board in 2004.
• Successfully completed the Certificate Course in English, Department of Workers Education University of Colombo in 1996.
