NSIS_Project

The Developing Information, Research, and Digital Skills for Business, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship in India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal (NSIS) Project aims to strengthen the capabilities of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal by enhancing the competencies of Library and Information Specialist (LIS) staff. This initiative, funded by ERASMUS-EDU, focuses on improving information support for research, business, and innovation in the region through international collaboration.

The University of Ruhuna plays a significant role in this project, with a team of five representatives: one Senior Lecturer, the Librarian, two Senior Assistant Librarians, and one Assistant Librarian. The project consists of seven Work Packages involving online and physical meetings, curriculum development, training sessions, piloting, and evaluation activities.

Key Objectives of the Project:

  • Developing a Library and Information Specialist (IS) staff development strategy to enhance library services supporting business, entrepreneurship, innovation, and research.
  • Improving the standards, range, and quality of library services with a focus on digital skills, lifelong learning, and transferable competencies.
  • Strengthening the University of Ruhuna’s library as a key player in fostering research and industry collaborations.

An awareness session on the project will be held on 25th February 2025 at the Main Library Auditorium, Wellamadama, Matara, inviting the university community to engage and learn more about this initiative.
