The Library Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the University of Ruhuna organized a workshop on “Awareness of Fire Hazards in the Library Environment and Preventive Measures” on 8 October 2026 at the Library, Faculty of Medicine, Galle. The workshop was conducted for the professional and paraprofessional staff of the University of Ruhuna Library System.
Mr. Veditha De Silva, Head of the Department of Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna, served as the resource person. The workshop aimed to enhance staff awareness of fire hazards in library environments and strengthen their knowledge of preventive measures to ensure the safety of library personnel, users, collections, and facilities.
Ms. Sakunthala Senevirathna, Senior Assistant Librarian, University of Ruhuna, coordinated the workshop as part of the Library’s ongoing efforts to promote workplace safety and improve the quality of library services.
