The University of Ruhuna has begun the much-awaited renovation of the Main Library at Wellamadama Premises on 13th January 2023. The project, valued at 147.6 million, is aimed at modernizing and enhancing the library’s facilities to meet the university community’s growing academic and research needs.
The renovation will include upgrading the library’s technology infrastructure, improving the lighting and ventilation systems, refurbishing the furniture, roof and floors of the main library. The library’s interior design will also be upgraded to create a more welcoming and modern space. The renovation of the Library is expected to take several months (Approximately 12 months), during which time the library is partially closed. However, the library administration provides students with alternative access to required materials.
