A workshop on Patron Handling in the Koha Library Management System was successfully conducted on 17th September 2026 at the Main Library of the University of Ruhuna.
The workshop brought together the Deputy Librarian, Senior Assistant Librarians, Assistant Librarians, and Library Information Assistants representing both the Main Library and the Faculty Libraries of the University.
The session was conducted by Mr. Nimal Hettiarachchi, Librarian of the University of Ruhuna, who served as the resource person. The workshop focused on patron-handling procedures and the effective use of relevant functions of the Koha Library Management System. It provided participants with practical knowledge and skills to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of library services.
The programme was coordinated by Mrs. Sakunthala Senevirathna, Senior Assistant Librarian.
Delivering the welcome address, Mr. U. A. Lal Pannila, Deputy Librarian, emphasized the importance of strengthening staff knowledge and skills in the effective management of patrons through the Koha system.
The workshop provided a valuable opportunity for library staff to enhance their knowledge of patron management procedures, strengthen their practical skills in using Koha, and share professional experiences related to the effective application of the system in delivering quality library services.
