Established in 1979, the Library at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ruhuna, holds a significant position as one of the principal branch libraries within the University of Ruhuna. Situated in the rural agricultural region of Mapalana, Kamburupitya, Matara district, it plays a pivotal role in serving the diverse needs of undergraduates, postgraduates, faculty members, and non-academic staff associated with the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ruhuna.

Moreover, the Library functions as a key resource for agricultural scientists and researchers in the southern regions of Sri Lanka.

The library, housed in a two-story building strategically located within the Faculty’s central area, was established in 1995 with a seating capacity for 256 individuals. The library’s dedicated team consists of one professional staff member, three para-professional staff members, and three supporting staff members, all committed to delivering efficient and effective services to its users.

The Library comprises several key sections, including the Lending section, Reference section, Periodical section, and the Sri Lanka collection, commonly referred to as the “Ceylon Room.”
