The Medical Library of University of Ruhuna firstly established in 1980 at Mahamodara. The mission of the Medical library is to provide the information services of highest quality through effective management of library resources, skills and technology for teaching learning and research activities at the Faculty of Medicine of University of Ruhuna as well as other health related external institutions in Southern province of Sri Lanka.

Presently the library holds nearly 30000 textbooks and other publications. The services are provided to registered under graduate students, post graduates, permanent academic staff, visiting lecturers/consultants/demonstrators, medical officers of the Teaching Hospital and other researchers on request.
